01 / Preparation

A clear brief makes room for better work.

Atmosphere, people and details captured without taking over the room. We discuss references, timing, location, styling and delivery before the session.

You do not need to know how to pose or arrive with a finished concept. Direction stays practical and collaborative.

What we agree together

  • Concept, references and practical setup
  • Direction, pace and comfort
  • Privacy and image use
  • Editing and agreed delivery

Phase 2A service guide

A service shaped around the actual brief.

An event is more than the official moments on its programme. Arrival, a hand on a shoulder, the design of a room, attention between participants and the energy after a key moment all tell the story of a day. Event photography therefore balances atmosphere with usefulness. The images can hold onto people, details and moments that matter to the organisation or attendees without turning the photographer into another organiser in the room.

Before coverage, we discuss what the event needs. That might be a programme with specific moments, spontaneous atmosphere, portraits of participants, or a combination. Access to spaces, a contact person, sensitive parts of the event and how people are informed are useful points to clarify. You do not need to list every possible image. Clear priorities help make good choices when a busy day changes shape.

During coverage I look for transitions and relationships: who arrives, where attention gathers, how the room changes, and which details carry the event identity. When a portrait or group image is wanted, I offer practical direction. At other moments I stay in the background. The approach remains flexible because a live event rarely follows the exact story written by its programme.

Coverage, selection, image use and delivery are set out in the inquiry and later brief. This page does not fill in unknown duration, price, quantities or timing. Share the event type, location, date or period, and what you want people to remember. The process page explains how consent, privacy and image use are discussed in the collaboration.

Atmosphere and spontaneous interactions can be part of coverage. If portraits or specific moments matter too, include them in the brief.

Can you photograph an event outside Purmerend?

Projects throughout the Netherlands can be discussed. Location, access and travel arrangements are considered for each event.

What should an event inquiry include?

The event type, location, date or period, intended atmosphere and key moments are a good start. Include the main contact person too.
